EVR, in collaboration with An Việt Archives, hosted their first Human Library event at Centre 151 in London. Originating in Copenhagen, the Human Library fosters a safe environment for open dialogue, where human "books" engage in discussions with their readers. Among our "human books" were Jack Shieh OBE, the founder of Vietnamese Mental Health Services, and Mark Tran, an innovative Vietnamese journalist who navigated a media landscape with limited ESEA representation. This event shed light on the varied migration narratives of Vietnamese communities in the UK. Through the personal accounts shared by our speakers, participants gained insight into the challenges confronted by the Vietnamese community, and the profound influence of personal experiences on identity and mental well-being. These narratives prompted reflection on the significance of community solidarity and the potential for collective support among its members.
